Will the axles from a 1983 cj 7 fit in a 1967 cj5 fit with no problems? Thanks for any info...

Cherokee is too wide, different bolt pattern, front pumpkin is on the wrong side, no locking hubs, and I wouldn't purposely put the 35 in anything except to replace a blown up 35 to keep a vehicle mobile. I'm not a fan of the AMC 20 rear either, but certainly better than the 35. The AMC 20 most likely is centered unless it came from a Quadratrac equipped CJ-7. If centered it won't work well with your 18 transfer case that has an offset rear output. Also check the gear ratios. Most likely not optimum for your application. The CJ 30 is considered an upgrade and is a pretty easy swap but does have a few things that need attention including steering linkage and caster angle. both of which can be pretty easily overcome. Also check the gear ratio as it probably won't match what you have now unless someone has swapped gears. I'd suggest the search function and the technical section as the 30 swap has been covered countless times on here.

Front axle from the CJ will work. The XJ stuff not at all, front axle is a drivers side drop and centered rear. The rear axle from the CJ is also centered rear axle so it does not work either.

    Edit: Nick Beat me.

If you don't mind having the axles shortened, the ones from the early Cherokees ('71-'79 or '80) are passenger side drop D44 front and rear. The bolt pattern is 6 bolt for the wheels, but if you are installing both axles plus the spare, you are in good shape there.

'80 f's Cherokee is driver side drop on the front. '74 ish to '79 is what you want. I believe '74 is drum brake but some may have been disc. I know '71 was closed knuckle and the next couple years may be also but can't remember for sure. You definitely want narrow track waggy/Cherokee if available as you can get away with only shortening one side on the front (long side).

'77 was disc on the front, drum on the rear. The one I used to own drove like a sports car.

'74 was the first year for the open knuckle 44 in the Wagoneer/Cherokee. Disks were optional starting that year, but almost all are disks from then on and the drum-brake cars are the exception. I think the standard drums - disk option went away in '78, and they were all disk from thence forward.

All earlier models had a closed knuckle axle; the 30 '71 through '73, and the 27 for earlier models. All drum brakes, of course.

Another vehicle that had the passenger side running gear is the toyota landcruiser from the sixty's and early '70's. The same one we can get our starters from.
    Would be Japanese axles though.

As stated earlier there has been alot of discussion about this in the future so I just need to go search it. But since this will be a garage queen for the most part should I just leave the stock '67 one in??? Those are new to me as I am used to the open knuckle 44 and such. But not sure, just leaving the v6 in it for now and Im not goin rock crawlin with it.

I'd just service what needs servicing and run it the way it is. At least for now. If it's going to be a mild trail and street Jeep then the stock running gear works just fine.

Plenty of 30s around. I am in Bonney Lake and have lots of them. Best to just run what you have and then come up with a plan. Way too many people attempt the "Pirate" build and think they need 60's and a big block. These Jeeps in their stock form with a little preventative maintenance are very fun to drive.

So should I just leave the stock running gear in it, this will most likley be a garage queen for the most part, just not used to that closed knuckle thing. Was there a down fall to those???

Yes I am talking to myself and guess I will leave it stock for now and if I want to change in the future after the build is done then I will get back on here and ask for advice.
Thanks for all the info, it kept me from spending money on needless things. Thanks a million:v6:
