My google-fu is weak and/or I'm just stoopid. Is there a difference between disc and drum brakeline? I have to replace the lines (all the fittings were damaged on removal) but I'm thinking of doing a front disc conversion down the road. I don't want to spring for a preformed kit only to replace the front lines down the road. Can I use a power booster with 4 drums? I know that a stock booster usually has to be modified when converting, so will I have to add the piece usually taken out? I have searched the forums here, but I have found nothing dealing with my specific issues. Thanks for any info provided. :flag:

There is no difference between disc and drum brake line it's all steel line unless you go for the high dollar stainless steel stuff. A power booster should work with no issues on a 4 wheel drum system, it's quite common. Don't know what you mean by a stock booster usually has to be modified when converting and the piece usually taken out? Are you talking about the residule valve in the master cylinder?

Yes, I did mean the master cylinder. Would I have to add the valve to the MC that came with the booster? Thanks

The hard lines should be the same, but the hoses are different. The disc hoses attach to the calipers with different fittings.
The master cylinders are different with disc brakes as the volume of fluid that moves the caliper piston is greater than the volume that moves the wheel cylinders. The master cylinder for the all drum system has equal sized front and rear reservoirs. On disc brake master cylinders, the reservoir for the calipers is much larger.
I'm pretty sure that the vacuum booster will interchange but you will need the complete system from the MC to the calipers.
For a safe , balanced system, I would use all the parts that are in the OE system from a disc equipped CJ. Proportioning valve included.
