Got the windshield frame mounted and worked on some wiring. I'm having a hard time finding a new windshield. Safelite said they can't get one and I need to go to a custom shop, any suggestions? Hopefully I can get the hood and fenders cleaned up and mounted, then I'm ready to paint.

I ended up buying new fenders (69+ with the marker light indent) from kaiser-willys because I didn't want to spend all the time and effort on mine. I'm not too worried about originality and couldn't see spending twice as much for the pre-69 fenders. I did have to notch the inner fender a bit for the shock tower, the notches were too far back. I Got some work done today, hood and fenders edged and installed. Need to install the glass next, start wet sanding, then ready for paint. Not too much longer :)

Got more done... Mounted the passenger seat (pain in the butt), steering column bracket installed, aligned and tightened fenders and hood, and finally began wetsanding. with any luck I'll be ready for paint next week.

Thanks. No caps for the rims, I'm actually not going to use them though. I have a different set of rims with a bit more offset I'll be putting on later. I get a lot of questions about these wheels. some people say they're old ford spare wheels, and others say they were made by an old trick they used back in the day, where they cut out the wheel center, flipped it around and rewelded it. I've never seen 8" spare tire wheels and I don't seen obvious modification welds, so who knows.

I do know one thing, I feel bad for the next person to restore this thing, I've got 2.5 gallons of herculiner on top of, and under the floor, not to mention under the fenders.

I've owned this Jeep for five years already, so it'll be nice to finish it up enough to drive this summer.

It's looking great. I have recently purchased a '67 CJ5 and have been thinking about the direction I want to take my build. I'm not looking to restore mine but would like to make common sense improvements as you did. I like all the pics and the exhaust sounds excellent.

By the way could you pass info on windshield replacement when you find something? Mines cracked and has been partially sandblasted by PO. Thanks.

I was given a name for original salvage parts by the guys at Kaiser Willy's but haven't called yet. I've been trying to find a local source. Anyway, since your in Conn I thought I'd pass the number on. Maybe he has windshield glass for you. His name is Frank and the number there is (802) 723-6597. He is in New Hampshire.

I ended up installing my old glass in the new frame, once I cleaned it up the glass was in good shape. I also did a bit more filling here and there and a lot more sanding. I mocked up the fender flares, drilled holes and marked where the cover to on the fenders so I can chip guard to that point. Should have a new coat of three part primer sprayed today, then a final block sand, masking and spray the paint this weekend. I figure after it's painted I still have about two days of work to finish her up.

Made a little more progress today, still need to hit the dash wiring and fix the front right brake (Jeep dives to the left when brakes are applied).

So I've been enjoying my Jeep for the last year, but it's now time to continue the project a bit. My plan is to fit a GM 4.3 TBI, audi bosch distributorless coil/igniter system, a k04 turbo, and either megasquirt or vems ecu. I'm collecting parts now and have the TBI, turbo, ignition parts, and some other bits. I'm not looking for crazy high HP, I want more low end torque. I just completed an EFI conversion on my porsche 930 and learned quite a bit about engine management systems. I think I'm going to plumb up into the engine bay from after the y pipe, mount the turbo in the engine bay where the distributor and alternator go (relocating the alternator to the other side). I'll mount the TBI to a square bore adapter plate on top of my offenhauser 360 intake and blow through it using one of those TBI cold air intake pipes. I'll hold off on an intercooler for now and run a low boost (maybe 7psi). I'll have full ignition control and run a map sensor to retard on boost. Not sure if I'll add 454 injectors or just kick up the fuel pressure to add fuel on boost. Anyone have any input or comments?

Probably not what you're looking for, but IMHO, if you want low end torque go for more cubes :)
What trans are you planning to use.

The turbo I've got will spool at 1500rpm on the 225. It should make about 250hp at 4000rpm and I'll have the benefits of EFI as well. I'm going to stick with everything else as is for now. I'll be sure to document it as I move forward.

    RPM: 1000 2000 3000 4000
    HP: 46 105 167 244
    VE: 70% 80% 85% 92%
    Boost: 8.8 8.7 8.7 9.0

Here's the turbo just about where it will be mounted. I need a drivers side manifold for the passenger side so I can route the exhaust around the front to the turbo.

My two cents for your project.....The 225 is 9:1 compression....pretty high for a turbo motor, you may want to start with lower boost or you may grenade the motor....I am thinking 2-3 psi. Megasquirt is a great way to go, it has endless ability to tune and run different set ups. As far a injectors, stay with the stock 4.3 injectors on the gm throttle body. They will easily handle the fuel demand of the 225 even with boost. If you want you can adjust the TBI fuel pressure.
