I'm looking for a pic of an un-molested driver side inner fender- preferably '55-'56. The replacement I have has a lot of holes in it that I can't identify a use for. I'm pretty sure I've found the terminal block, horn & parking brake cable clamp but the rest have me scratching my head, some may be PO, some may be related to the fact it came off a '67.

    Anyone help me out?

    Thanks,

    H.

This isn't off my '56, but it IS off another '56. It was given to me, and I passed it on to another member here. Hope these help ya some.

Did the one you bought have those 4 holes with welded on nuts on the back of the fender in a rectangle?

I think that is something left over from the machine making the later fender too. I think it's for the later washer bottle

No, nothing like that. The only threaded holes were the two along the top for the horn. There were four in a rectangle below those down on the side but they looked like the PO had attached something there with sheet metal screws, I thought washer bottles went on the rear of the bulge...

FWIW these came off a '67 & with one exception apart from those four everything else matches up with Ron's pics. The passenger side one had a few extra that were factory, there was a semi-triangular looking bracket for something but it had been pretty badly butchered anyhow.

Oh, ok. I read into that too much. When you said replacement I thought you meant a repo one. I got repo ones and they had all kinds of weird holes in them
