Well driving the jeep and even working on it in the garage there is a loud squealing sound. It is quiet when the engine is idling, but squeals maly when driving around or when the RPMs are up. So i have to go check what it will be.

    Power Steering Pump??
    Water Pump??
    Loose Belt??
    Alternator??

I can safely discount the alternator because it is new. I still ahve to check the others. I do know the power steering pump is full of fluid. When i first drove the jeep Friday morning it didnt squeal at all that drive to work, it did squeal when i was checking engine timing. Oh well, i will probably get to it tomorrow, when i can pull the belts and see when it stops.

Place your bets... what do you think it is ;)

I'm going with a belt squealing, doesn't have to be loose to squeal. ;)

Try rubbing some good ol' bar soap on the sides of the belt (while the engine is off, please!) and see if the squeal goes away. If it does, replace all the belts. Once they get glazed from slipping, they will rarely stop squealing for thelong haul. You will find yourself Jeepin' with a bar of soap in the glovebox and soaping them down every couple of days....

Hmmm, based on the symptoms you reported, I'm goona guess water pump bearing. Verify full radiator. If you remove the belt, see if you can wriggle the fan blades to and fro a quarter inch or more. Might not be a bad idea to squirt in some MMO in the cooling system, just in case. :) Good luck!

Only bad thing about grabbing the fan to see if it is the water pump... i do not have a fan on there :(

How easy is it to glaze the belts?? That is one thing i am also kind of leaning to because it has done it for a while but usually at start up, then would go away. This time it is going for the whole time at higher RPMs. geuss it is time to get new ones. But i will find out for sure tonight.

I would guess glazed donuts as well.

    ...wait, that was lunch.

Yeah, glazed belts, but if it has been going on that long, you may have glazed the pulleys as well.

Dan: Again from an old British Sports Car owner, for some reason the British cars did that. Didn't squeel, but made sort of that noise. Always did it and never knew why. Is what we did is to use a little "motel" size bar of soap and let it rub on the sides of the belt while ideling. Always worked for about 2 minths, then you did it again. Never could figure it out. Even if you replaced the belts, they would make noise about 2 month's later and then you'd have to "soap" them.

    Worth a "try". :)

    1. Make sure belts are tight enough (no too tight)
    2. Spray the belts ONE AT A TIME with some fu-fu juice. This will pinpoint which belt may be causing the problem.
    3. Remove each belt (one at a time) and start the engine. If you remove the wtr pump belt and start the engine and the noise is gone its the pump bearing...Keep doing each component individually.

    Good luck
