I was comparing my 75 (?) tub to my son's 72. I noticed on the 72 the JEEP word is stamped fairly high on the side, whereas on my 75 it is stamped a lot lower. My questions would be, do I have a 75 tub or is it a later tub? Are there other ways to ID the tub year?

I've tried using the search function here, but it tells me I don't have access. On the same note, Posting Permissions also thells me I can't post attachments, so I can't even post a picture.

Thanks for any Ideas that will help me ID my tub.

    Walt

A '75 tub should have the letters in the lower position. This was a mid-74 change.

A'75 tub should also have the larger floor plates welded in, unlike the '72.

I can reinforce what Tim said. My '75 CJ5's (built 2/75) original tub had the lower, more plain Jeep lettering and welded-in trans. access cover - the replacement tub (an OEM '74 tub from AZ) has the lettering higher on the side in a different font and a bolt-in trans. access plate. Also, some of the bolts that hold the dash panel onto the cowl are placed differently. I'm going to have to change all that before the restoration is complete.

Thanks Tim and Alex for the replies. You have made me a happy Jeeper again. When I noticed the way it was stamped, I thought, OH NO, It's not what I thought it I had. I'll continue on collecting original parts.

As always, Great Site, Great People and Great Knowledge.

    Thanks again

Like Tim says, mid 74 change.
My 08/74 built tub has the low Jeep and welded floor.

We can narrow this down a little further if you like...my April '74 has the high Jeep and bolt in floor.

I would call it more of a late-74 change rather than mid. Mine is June, 74 built and has the high Jeep and bolt in floor. 74 was also a change point for the windshield frame to go from black to body colored, somewhere around January, 74. Mine was body colored.

I'm trying to keep as much original as I can. As long as the tub is an intermediate, I'm happy. Thanks for the info. I'll file it in my records.
