I'm almost afraid to ask has anyone ever heard of www.jeepcarbs.com they seem to be the ONLY place I can find a rebuilt Rochester 2GC 2 barrel carb for my 70 V6 225.

I haven't heard of them but I can tell you this....the 2gc has to be one of the easiest carbs to rebuild. If I can do it so can you:)

try rebuilding it yourself. here is a tutorial http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=86177 you need to get a account to see the pics but it has some good info. you can get the rebuild kits from napa and autozone for less than $25.

Rocester 2G was used on the 2 barrel Dauntless CJ's.
The Rocester 2 GC is an automatic choke version that is used on Commamndo's

Are you looking to keep the stuff on your jeep as close to original as possible, or do you want to drive it?

If you just want to drive, then Summit Racing has your carb.
Just type in 2GC in the search function spot.
And there is at least one holley two barrel that will fit your 2GC manifold. Same mounting bolt pattern and bore. Don't remember the name, but I put one on my '66 Olds 425 years ago.bunny with a pancake

does the holley work as well as the Rochester? My most recent purchase (frame, 225, tub) didn't come with the carb, and it seems like I can find the holley but not the Rochester.

I ran it as is for 10 years on my olds. Came off a buddy's '70 or there abouts dodge.

I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a direct fit.:coffee:

Be aware that most of the 2G's or 2GC's that came off V-8's had a larger bolt pattern. I just got rid of one from a '75 Nova V-8 that would not bolt to a 225/231 intake....

Most were, but not all. My '65 283 had a 2G the same bolt pattern as the Dauntless version. FWIW

I did rebuild my carb and it ran awesome for exactly 1.5 days and went right back to stumbling off the line and at the bottom of the RPM curve when shifting into 2nd and 3rd. I also have a stripped hole where my manual choke attaches and I feel like most of the moving parts are just really tired. I've messed with it so long and so many times my hopes are that it's just lived it's life. However I am interested in spending less than $300.00 so I will definitely check out the Holley option through Summit.

Easy to spot the differences between the small and large 2G Rochesters-the larger bolt pattern version also has a larger air cleaner mounting flange (3 1/16" vs. 2 5/8" IIRC). As Patrick mentioned, some of the early Chebbies came with the small version (283's & 327's) Later stuff like 350's got the larger carb. I don't think there's any way to adapt the large carb to the small bolt pattern or vice versa, the bolt holes are about half a hole off.
As far as the Holley goes, they used to make a line of replacement carbs for factory applications, but I think those were discontinued long ago. You could adapt one of the large bolt pattern Holley 2 bbls. but I think you'd be better off to fix your Rochester.

This is the large bore 2GC I have on my 258 during the install a couple yrs. ago. The bores are the same as the MC 2100 but I had to make my own adapter because the mounting holes overlapped.
