anyone know a good remedy for softtop plastic haze?

I got my new Jeep ready but the windows are slightly hazed over, not as bad and gone as my 72 was when I got it so I was wondering if there was a cleaner for it, there seems to be no scratches, it looks like its dirty, it just wont come off with soap amd water. any ideas on something to clear em up?

 

I've used liquid car waxes with good success. Apply it on then use a hair dryer to heat it up, then remove as usual by buffing with a soft towel. The heat for whatever reason seams to work better. A hot sunny day works too.

Meguires scratch X worked for me. It comes in a black toothpaste type tube sold at flaps shelved with car waxes.

 

From an old British Sports Car owner, I've always used Meguires Plastic Cleaner, and Plastic Polish. My last British car was a Triumph TR6. Had the origonal "Vyback" plastic windows. After 26 years, they were still clear!

 

You can pick Novus up at most any motor cycle shop. Used to use on my face sheild.

pledge works ok.. but makes your jeep smell nice..

 

What James Said. I also use Meguiars plastic cleaner and then polish. You'd be amazed at how clear you can get them with some patience. You can take a lot of the finer scratches out as well. I've noticed since I started using that stuff years ago my windows stay more pliable and don't scratch as easily. You should be able to pick it up at most flaps or automotive paint supply stores that handle Meguiars wax products. Nickmil.

 

3M Cleaner and polish worked for my original top to take out the brown.

 

Anybody try using the Meguiars plastic polish with a random orbital buffer? (w/ terry cloth)

I've had good luck with that on other applications, never tried it on a vinyl type surface though, just plastic.

 

Believe it or not, Armor-all works awesome.
I have used it with great success on my softtop windows, motorcycle windshield and face shields. Made the softtop windows look like brand new!
