Right I've sketched out a couple of ideas I've had for a rollcage for the 6, I'm after a simplistic 6 pointer with the seats mounted to it, comments and further ideas welcomed.

I personally like your idea #1. just for piece of mind, I would look at ways to put in a support in the bend on the down tubes behind your seats, not going across the jeep but just on the down tube itself at the bend. I would worry about it collapsing in the event of a actual roll over.(just for piece of mind).
I like the looks of it though.

I copied many that I saw including Mike Boyink's design......I wanted the cage to fit under the soft top and be able to protect rear passengers.....here's a few pics

FWIW I asked that the rear bars of the rollcage extend all the way to the rear of the rear wheel well. The builder chose to ignore that request. Visually I think it would have looked better, but I'm not sure if the rear seat belts would have reached. It was also nice having a gap between the spare tire and that roll bar for feeding stuff in behind the rear seat.

It appears that the first option would have more protection for the rear passengers in case of a rollover. It also looks like it wouldn't interfere with the front seats when a tall person is sitting in the front and needs to move the seat back. My friend has a cj and the roll bar seems to be an issue since he's a tall guy. I do like the idea of having the rear section in an angle... pretty nice.

Probably best to start a new thread for that question.

Had another thought late last night for the rear hoop (they always come at 1am??) this would make it easier to get into the rear whislt still giving the triangulation needed,

    What you think

IMO that's way, way more bracing than you need. The hoop by itself will be plenty.

the cage should be designed to offer protection for the type of impact it will most likely get..that said more is better but function and visual appeal of the rest of the jeep should be considered I wouldn't put too much cross bracing in but that's my opinion were not talking nascar type impact here....
