springover

    i just got a 1968 cj5 and i want to lift it is a springover a good way to go or buy new springs to lift it thanks matt :flag:

    Personal opinion, buy a 2.5" lift and bolt it on, realign front end and go. Safest, quickest and most simple way to do it.

    You gain flexiblity with the spring over, however the simple lift, I would go for that. Plus it is much easier on the pocket.

    Depedns on what you want to do with it. if it is for trail use, the spring over is nice, but it takes a bit to get it dialed in. The easiest way is the standard spring lift. 2.5 lift is nice. Or cut out your fenders to get tires to fit and have a bit of a lift but no center of gravity problems.

    I agree with the others. I mainly went spring over to get a softer ride (which it has) however the tradeoff is a lot of other mods that have to be made to compensate for it. Example I'm going through now is spring wrap elimination. If you have good fabrication skills, and the tools though, you might enjoy the challenge. I know I did.
