My CJ6 has a Stainless Steel Brake Corp front disc conversion on it, I'm trying to track down a replacement disc rotor for it. I of course went back to SSBC to get one off them but they want an absolute crazy price for the disc and freight. I'm of the belief that the rotor is off an International Scout II (year unknown). I was wondering if anyone on here has any ideas where I could find one of these rotors from as I have brought 2 so far and both times they were the wrong ones,

My current disc size is as below: 11 3/4" diameter 5 on 5.5" Stud pattern 4 2/16" central hole 1 3/16" disc thickness 1 1/2" from front disc face to wheel mount face The 2 measurements that seem to cause the problems are the central hole diameter and the measurement from the front disc face to the wheel mount face.

    Any help would be appreciated

I'd recommend taking those measurements to your local (real) auto parts store and have them leaf through their buyer's guide and see what matches.

When I get back home this weekend, I'll measure the ones I bought for my conversion. I think I ended up having to order them to get the right ones, but in any case, you can take the part #'s from the Rock Auto web site into Napa or O'Reilly or AutoZone (whatever) and have them pull them out and measure. I do it all the time.

May be to look at the parts first-hand difficult in Ireland ... maybe somebody with a parts store connection here can give him a hand?

well I have all those books from 78-93 and they don't give the measurement info he's asking for, center hole diameter and face to hub measurment.
some of the 2wd stuff no doubt uses a smaller hole.

    Thanks for all the help,

Ok here are the best photos I've got to date, the whole reason I'm trying to find the rotor is some mupert installed the brake pads wrong and runied one rotor, you will see this in the photos

This is a link to the discs I just brought thinking they were the right ones, everything is good except the central hole size and the disc to mount flange height.

I think these could work if the I bored out the cenral hole on the lathe, but the ebayer won't ship international and its still not 100% right

I don't believe the original one I have got has been machined in any way, but I may need to look again.

I think their center hole measurment is incorrect for that rotor to fit what they say it will fit.
to fit over drive flanges or locking hubs, 4-1/16 is minimum by my tape measure.
that should be for a standard Jeep or IH 4wd application.

That could also be me with my measuring skills in imperial measurement, I'm use to metric measurement, the one I got the other day (first link) was for a standard jeep setup but the disc to flange measurement is too short (about 1/2") and the centre hole is too small.

My rotors are 1.187" thick, with the rotor face to hub mounting face 1.16". Since I have them mounted on hubs, the center hole is hard to measure, but I guess it is about 3.9" or so.

What's the likelihood that these are Ford or Dodge 5 on 5.5" rotors with the centers cut out?

Ok, well I did a little more measuring using a set of claipers this time, the centre hole is 4.16" and the stud holes are 0.64", I'll let you work out the exact fraction of an inch measurements.

I also noted that the rotors have 2 markings on the inside face,

    210204-C

    WF2

Not sure if either of these make any difference.

Have you contacted Stainless Steel Brakes for a part number that you could cross reference? The specs they list for their brake kit for a CJ of your vintage don't match the measurements you have given:
Diameter11.5 Thickness1.125 in. VentingUni-Directional Standard FinishSlotted & Plated Optional FinishDrilled, Slotted & Plated Bolt Pattern5x5.5 in.

The diameter and thickness are both different.

Yeah I did, mine is an old kit they use to do, I believe it has changed slightly. I have the original purchase invoice for them so I know they were their's. (brought 1997, item number A135 - front conversion drum-disc 72-80 jeep CJ), Yes I have asked them for a cross reference number but because they sell the rotor they wouldn't give the info out, or thats what I got back when I emailed them.

If someone else wishes to try then I would be much appreciative. The calipers are off a wagoneer, I sourced the pads for those.,
