    High guys
It has been a while, sorry but i have busier than a one legged man in an *** kickin contest!!
any way back on track with wiring up my 74 restore,,, I am at the rear right now using the painless harness. So heres the question, my jeep has the three lights, left & right, White/backup Red can/running & brake and the one I have the question on is the orange/ turn signal. It seems that this has two wires coming from it and the ground is through the case itself. As I tested the leads I have found that there are two filaments in the bulb one brighter than the other. If this is solely a turn signal, why the two filaments. Am I missing something here

    Any help appreciated
    Thanx
    Dave

    Maybe a little too brief...

The bright filament is used for both the brakes and the turn signals. The dim filament is used for the running lights. The brakes light both bright filaments. If the brake and the turn signal are both on, the turn signal over-rides the brake light on that side, and flashes.

So both the red and yellow are lit when the headlights are on? and the bright yellow filament is the turn signal, and the bright red is the break?

Touch each wire, one at a time, with 12V while grounding the housing.
Which ever one lights up dim, that's your running lights and should be wired up to be on with the headlights.
The one that lights up bright is for the brake/turn signal. It is only one wire that does both that comes from the dash harness. Where the power for either the brake function or turn function comes from is divvied up between the brake switch, the turn signal, and the hazard switch

Dbender I too am having some wiring problems. I feel your pain! Not to steal your thread but my question is "Does it matter which terminal on the backup switch is incoming and which is outgoing?". I assume one terminal will come from the dash and the other will exit to the rear lights.

No, it's just a switch. On or off. Terminals connected or not.

If I understand correctly, there are two orange wires coming from the tail light. One wire hooks up to the wiring harness and the second wire runs to the side maker, according to the wiring diagram.

No Problem Twilight come on in the water is warm.
I think I have the idea now.
I do not know about an orange wire. I believe the side marker is lit with the same lead as the red tail light and orange rear running light. And if I have this straight all these are the dimmer filament.
