Hey guys, I have been reading this forum since October and been using your tips and tricks. I want to thank all of you, you have been so helpful.

Well, I got the CJ5 back in October. Pulled it out of a barn in TN. It is titled as a 1966 CJ5, but according to the VIN Research thread on this site it is a DJ5. I am new to Jeeps, but this doesnt seem right. Maybe someone here can help me out on this. The first part of the VIN is 8505.

Its got the F134 engine and a Dana 25 up front with 5.38. Thats about all i know so far. I have pulled everything out of the cab, pulled the hood and fenders. Also pulled the front axle. I am rebuilding it with all new bearings and races, seals and giving it a good paint job. I have spent most of my time trying to figure out what has been done this thing by PO's. Its seen its share of incorrect fixes.

I will keep the post updated as I go along. After the front axle is done I plan on getting a new suspension, pulling the body to replace the floor, moving the gast tank to the back and a whole lot of other things. I keep getting ideas and I keep finding things that need to be fixed.

Again guys, thanks so much for all your help.

Lokks like it, after doing some cleaning on it, I found the ID Tag on the engine. Its from a CJ2A. I was able to get it running when I first brought it home, but didnt mess with it long as the carb needed a rebuild. Got the carb done but I got impatient and started tearing into this thing. Front axle is getting painted today.

I'm waiting on the parts to put the front axle back together. I'm torn between putting stock springs back in or going with a 2.5" lift. Ive been reading through opinions on here, probably go with the lift. I plan on replacing all the floor panels too, I have a friend who's family owns a company that manufactures Plasme Cutting machines for factories. He will be cutting new floors for me for the front end. Gonna ditch the toolbox, already got rid of the underseat tank. If anybody wants either PM me as I have no use. Might swap for something or just give em away.

Maybe the pictures are misleading, but your floors look fine to me. They have surface rust, but I don't see any rust holes. Clean the rust and paint off and then treat it with POR15 or some other rust killer/inhibiter. Now my floor was rusty...

They are not too bad in the back, but they are warped. The front has been patched by a PO. They laid some sheet metal over top of the existing. The Driver Side Hat Channel is pretty much gone. Since I have no idea how to weld a friend of mine is going to help fix the panels while I watch and learn. I hope to have the tub off tomorrow or Monday. I can take the tub to his shop while I clean the frame and drivetrain. I am sure Ill find some more things that need to be fixed. I have already found a crack in the frame at the front crossmember and the pass. side front springer are is cracked too. Oh well, this is the fun part. But you're right, the floors arent as bad as some but I figured I'd go ahead and fix it while I am doing everything else. To cold to drive right now anyway.
