They were available and sometimes still are on ebay. Depends on which transmission / t-case you're attaching it to. Some of the Chevy transmissions would support a PTO drive and there is one that attaches to the back of a Dana 18 like what came in early jeeps.

This is a Ramsey PT1-J, bolts on rear of D18 transfer case.

My 18H has the same bend, seems most of the ramsey's I've seen do. I seem to me to recall reading someplace the units aimed @ CJ's had that curve to clear bench seats.

It was also a common modification by owners so if the shifter had something bump it or rest against it, it would most likely disengage instead of engage the pto while driving.
That would make sense having it curved like that to clear a bench seat.

so then i take it you cannot use a overdrive with that unit installed?
i can get the winch for 100 with all the shafts but when the guy sold the jeep he didn't have a cover for the transfercase so left the pto on the case and kept the winch.

I'm not sure but I know on some of them you can, look at Herms website, he sells the adapter to run a pto and overdrive together.

Yes, you can use an OD & PTO at the same time- There's an adapter available that bolts to the back of the OD, Herm sells them.

As for the cover I'm sure you should be able to find one that you can swap to buddy for the PTO. :D

it's close but the only way to run the PTO winch is with his setup because there's no room up front. I'm running that when I get it finished someday.

I would ask Nick before dismissing the PTO and saginaw. I think he runs a Ramsey and standard saginaw.

If it's an 200-r the drum goes from frame rail to frame rail and there is no room. Ramsey did make one with a shorter spool and Koenig is also shorter so those could be made to work.

What Windyhill said. There are variations of the Ramsey. If you have the narrower Ramsey or a Koenig you can move the winch over and run regular Saginaw steering. If you have the wider Ramsey there isn't enough room and are locked into stock steering or Herm's set up. I just sold a narrow Ramsey that would have allowed for Saginaw steering.
