Have a 69' CJ-5 with a 225 odd fire v-6. I don't want to over carb, the engine runs fine when I'm not having to rebuild the Rochester on it. Any suggestions ?

Stock 2bbl. intake? The 2G is an excellent carb IMO, I ran one (a few different iterations albeit) for 13 years..

Yep ' stock intake. Delco hei ignition, not sure if that makes any difference. After the engine warms up it seems like it clears up and runs ok. When cold it acts like it's sucking air , I just can't figurre out were.

The 2brl. worked real well on another 225 I had . I'm going to get a rebuild kit this weekend, new fuel filter and a good cleaning of the carb and I hope that puts things back right.

While I was trying to decide what carb to put on Ginger (my 59 CJ5 w/Hurricane engine) I was amazed at the amount of negative input about Carter YFs. It got me to wondering how a vehicle with a Jeep's reputation for reliability could do so with a crappy carb.

With a bit of digging I discovered Carter YF,s were in a bajillion jeeps. And over the years people started swapping out YFs and it sorta ran, and there's a number on the body that says what engine the float, needles, seats, and so on. Before spending a lot of money on a gee whizz upgrades consider how ruggedly reliable. Ensure you have the right parts by numbe
