I have a 1947 Willys at my farm and the brakes need help. I rebuilt the m/c last year and it helped but still losing fluid. My question is can I make it only have the front brakes work and not use the rear? The front wheel cylinders are easy to work on and the jeep never goes over 15 mph.

these Jeeps need all the brakes they can get. brake system is very simple. Did you replace the brake lines as well? if not they probably should.

I too would be inclined to do what the OP does not want to do-pull the rear drums and fix it right. That said, yes, the rear line could be plugged with a 3/16 invert flair plug at the tee fitting and just use the fronts. Sort of reminds me of the way my father "fixed" a lot of stuff around the farm-brakes? What do you need those for????:D

Thanks Duffer. I guess I have a tee. Is it on the m/c or on the frame. Two brakes will be better then the no bakes I have now. I just know its a pain to get the rear drums off.

I think that tee was mounted on the frame. Just follow the line forward from the flex hose to the rear axle. I have see tees installed right at the master cylinder also. A lot can get changed in 63 years.

Just take a hammer and smash the rear brake line flat, then cut it past the flat, take a pair of vice grips and bend the flat back, hammer it some more and now you have a front brake system only, done it many of times on old junk .
