I need to figure out a spare tire carrier and jerry can holder and hi lift and shovel mount. I'd like to keep my back seat if at all possible. Was going to build something like photo 1.1 but decided against it. Yes it is reversible to fit in the bed, or outside the bed. I like the design as it would allow me to keep the seat, or flip it around if I don't need the seat, plus the pre runner design is just bad arse. Right now my spare is on the side, jerry can in front of the passenger door opening, hi lift across the tailgate and I don't like the location of any of them.
I'm considering putting the hilift on the windshield frame, inside, facing me. Seems good enough, like it will hold, and still allow the windshield to fold down (because that's what Jeeps are meant to do)

Now I'm considering building a rear stinger to pivot off the cross member. I can't have a rear bumper, I can't have it interfere with the winch or pintle hook, and I do have the skills to build one. Well, maybe not skills, but machines at least. What do you all think. Figure 1.2 shows the PSC Rear Stinger for TJ's and Figure 1.3 shows my rear end area.

Who built the storage room on these flatties so small?!

My rear seat is a Con Ferr tool box style seat, and I can bump it forward if need be, just to drive the back seat passengers crazier R)

I think the stinger idea is a purdy good one considering what all you got mounted on the back already. You could build it similar to the one in the photo by PSC and just have the rear skid fabed up in a way that clears those things when in the rear position. For the fuel cans, you could build you to bases one for each side but maybe have them on pins or some other way of removale so depending on which way you are running the tire (inside or outside) you could just flip flop the bases for the cans. I think the idea of the lift being on the inside would be a good one long as she stayed there. Haha that would be a painful experience if she decided to sit in your lap during a trail run.

I like 1.2 . You may be able to mod it to clear the stuff on the back of your jeep. You could hang the jack a number of ways off it.

sam, just throwing things out there , ,,,, 1st watch how much weight you hang off the back end like that it will affect handling ,(yeh ,I know it's a flattie, not a race car) I wheeled a soft sprung ?j with that PSC carrier and you could feel the weight transfer/bobbing . the tires you run on it are not very big /fat/heavy so maybe thats not too much of an issue . the winch on tryceritops ( old 3 lights) sticks out maybe 10"? so we are then talking about atleast 1'of cage that takes away from your rear approch angle.but dropping off a shelf and landing on the winch is not good either .

and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, are blue dots legal in N.M.?

I like the design in 1.1, the swing to the side. The PSD in 1.2 looks cool, but is impractical. Try laying that sucker down, then crawling over it to get anything out of the back. It's an ankle twister.
