CJ with 304. Engine runs good not moving, when I run on a smooth road no problem. However, it is obvious when I hit a rough spot in the road the engine cuts out and then immediately recovers. I recall a similar issue and it may have been the coil breaking down. Any input as to where to start?

    Thanks!

I'd say start by checking all battery cables and ground straps, then check coil, and coil to cap wire. run it and start wiggling wires.

X2. This is normally caused by loss of engine to frame to tub ground.

From one '76 to another, check the Ignition Module mounted on the front passanger fender on the inside of the engine compartment. Even if it's not the current problem, it soon will be.

Yes, year is important for ignition issues. The Prestolite ignition used from 1975 through 1977 was very troublesome.
