    Hey Guys,
I posted this photo at http://offroadaction.ca/jeep-factory-assembly-line-archives then posted it to Twitter, asking about the different signal lights by the hood/fender. Jeep responded back that "We think they are 68-70 reflectors as mandated by law. Most got removed, and they were later moved into the fender edge w/lights."

However, they added "We are actually a little more curious about the CJ5 with the M38A1 windshield that is second in line. Any clue?"

So I turn to the Early CJ experts for help!

It isn't necessarily an 'A1 windshield, it's a "venting" windshield, available on CJ's, although fairly rare except on export models.

I agree with Patrick, looks like an export model with venting windshield. Have on sitting on my '68 right now. Hard to find in good shape.

I can't answer that but you might contact Jpflat2a, Oldtime, or Timgr who have access to the old parts books and records. They could probably tell off the books if it could be optioned that way.
Not knowing for sure, my guess would be yes as there were tons of ways Jeeps could be optioned back then.

Venting windshields were still listed in the '71 parts manual, with separate p/n's for electric or vacuum wiper installations. The above photo is a pretty good argument that they could be ordered as an option at least until '70.

The razor grille on a Wagoneer means '66-69. The rhino grill on the J-truck says '63-69. So that with the reflectors says 1968 or 1969, IMO.

    Yes, it's a ventilating windshield.

    This pic is very interesting.
As far as hood reflectors goes I've seen them on the very earliest 1970 Renegade I's.
So early 1970 would be the latest timeline for this snapshot if only observing the CJ's

The large parking lamps, the hood reflectors and arched glass on the first CJ-5 all indicate that this snapshot was taken after 1968.
With Tims comment concerning the "RAZOR" grill we should conclude that the timeline must be 1969.

The ventilating windshield itself was a CJ-5 option ever since 1955.
It is identicle to the M38A1 (MD) version.
This same ventilating windshield option was available for CJ's until it's design was changed sometime in 1970.
The ventilating W/S on the 2nd CJ-5 is the older form of ventilating W/S before the final change of 1970.

I speculate that the second CJ-5 has an F-134.
It is fitted with narrow NDT's.

What year did they go to rectangular driver side mirror as stock? 1968 to 1970?
