f-134 is running pretty well since January, but it has backfire twice since that time, and I am curious what the problem is. I would assume that it was the timing, but it has only backfired twice in six months. I drive this everyday, so there have been plenty of opportunities for this to happen.

thanks for replying...Hard to tell if the backfire is coming out the tailpipe or carb...only happened twice, and it is quite a shock when it does. The first time was in a garage and it was even harder to tell. Yesterday, if I had to say, it would be from the carb.

The second part of that was whether the car was struggling uphill under load or holding back downhill?

Yes, there is a holding back at about 30 in second uphill and downhill.

There is also holding back in 3rd downhill at about 50

    Thanks

Did this happen after re-fueling? Maybe water in the gas..

can water in the gas cause backfire out of carb?

was the hesitation question related to a possible carb issue?

Yes backfiring canbe caused from water. The water causes the engine to be lean.
