Just got some exhaust quotes for the '6'. Best one was $275. This is from the manifolds back. Y pipe, muffler, aluminized pipe, and he coats everything with some kind of zinc paint. He said he'd give me what ever is left in the can and when ever I change oil I should touch up spots and the everything should last a lot longer.

Cost wise it sounds in the ball park. He works out of a shop by his house and is a friend of a guy I work with. Everyone else I talked to kinda had that blank look about them.

    I can't waite, a muffled Jeep...

That sounds about right. I paid in that range (280?) for a complete system on my truck, manifold back. Lifetime on the pipe, 2 years on the muffler. Yours is shorter, but more complicated because of the Y. I understand that car service is kinda high here in MA, being a highly regulated state.

    BRad,
I paid $180 for a complete maifold back exhaust for the CJ. This was with all mounts and parts. He didnt paint the welds or anything but i think it was a good price. But then again it depends on where you live. For your price he sounds fair since he is taking great care in ensuring your exhaust has a long life. I say go for it. I am once again a muffler convert. i like quiet not the glasspacks i had ;)

Erik: I have Flowmasters 40 series on mine. Just turn the outlets IN under the Jeep instead of OUT to the side. Never noticed any fumes or anything. That way you don't have them exiting by your ear. :)

Erik: Hold on, I'll take a pic and post it next. BTW, the PO did this and I laughed. It's an old '60's hot rodder trick to foil the "Man".

Here you go. I would cut about 2.5" off there, but you get the idea.

The price sounds good for a single pipe. I got my entire dual system from the headers to the rear bumper, including two Dynaflow mufflers for about $350. Its all aluminized, and the nosie factor was only slightly dampened by moving the exhausts to the rear. Not as many fumes get in the Jeep anymore.

We use that trick at the race track on our stock car, it fools the db meter also. :D

What dauntless_powered, you don't like making the little import cars with the stinger exhaust mad? you can blow it right back in their ears.

Headers on each side. Some sort of short mufflers stuck on the end. One side is blasting directly into the tire, other side has a curve on it. P/O rigged this up. Everything is tweaked and bent due to rocks. It "sounds" fine, although one of these days I am gonna un-tweak things a bit and get things curving out again.

It is "fun" to jump past the econobox's with the "zoomie" pipes. Really embarassed one awhile ago, using the 67 Dodge truck. Tee Hee.....

Got my '6' back today from the exhaust guy. I gave him a photocopy of the service manual exhaust diagram. He modified it slightly and I think he did a really good job. He routed the pipe from the "Y" crossover back on top of the transmission crossmember, then to the muffler, strait back over the rear axle and then crossed the pipe over the brackets for the draw bar and dumps out the passenger side. Its tucked up high and out of the way. He made all the hangers off the frame and not the body.

I've never had a 'muffled' Jeep before. Now I can hear all the squeaks, rattles, and other noises.

All my jeeps I have done have been in the 140-160 range from manifold back. But where i live it doesn't cost a arm and a leg for anything like in some of the big cities. Thats probably good price compared to places i've been. The zinc paint should help.
