Just finished wiring my 70 CJ5 and now working on the drag linkage. As I turn the steering wheel this is what happens in the right front wheel/hub? (sorry, newbie): turning wheel to the right SNAP!, then reverse the wheel to the left SNAP!.. when i looked at the right front wheel I also see fluid both on the outside of the locker and on the inside of the wheel hub... How much trouble am I in?....:?

Fluid probably just means that you need new seals. The snapping may be the U-joint or even an axle shaft snapped. Does it make noise if you jack the tire off the ground and spin it with the hubs engaged?

I am ashamed to say that presently I do not own a jack... Divorce is hard, and yes I know that they're not expensive, just gotta get around to picking one up... Dont think its the axle (hopefully) as I drove it three miles... Would this be possible? Or am I just trying to fool myself...

And the sound only happens when the tie rod pushes/pulls the wheel to turn, not when I drive it...

get a helper to turn the steering wheel while you look. It could be the spring pack shifting as force is applied to it from the wheel changing direction
