OEM Ignition switch

Anyone know where I might be able to find an OEM igniiton switch for a 1975 CJ5. Just to clear things up, the switch is in the dash and says "starter" on a chrome bezel right above the key hole.

Mine is getting a bit finicky and you have to hold the key just right in order to get it to turn.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  2. Ive got one i pulled out of mine, even got the key with it. Not sure of the condition of it, i pulled it almost as soon as i got the jeep. I know it did crank the jeep though.

PM me your address and i send it out to you if you are interested.

Those things are kind of a booger to get out of the dash, the spring is strong. Mine was in upside down when I got the jeep (teeth on key facing up) and was also kind of sticky so if you weren't careful the starter would stay engaged.
I took it out, removed the tumbler cleaned and lubed it up. Works fine now.

FWIW standard lock-sets are installed so the key teeth are up. If water gets in and the teeth are down, you will have a mess (if it freezes) (or forms rust in springs) and can cause premature failure.

I'm reviving this old post. Can the lock cylinder be changed out while the ignition is in the dash? The teeth inside mine are wearing. I have two totally different keys but both start the jeep. The keys have quite a bit of slop. Thanks.
