I have been looking all over for info on tuning my carburetor. I have the "Dauntless" V6 and am assuming it is the Rochester carb, but it says 2GM. I have seen a lot of info on 2G, 2GC, 2GV, 2GE, but nothing mentioning the 2GM. Any advice is appreciated, even if it is to explain that I am totally confused!

Mine says the same, but the GM stands for General Motors I believe. A rebuild kit includes more than enough parts that work on a 2G, 2GC, 2GV....

The float level should be 1 5/32", float drop 1 7/8". Do a search on this board for instructions on idle mixture settings.

carb should have a tag on it, or rochester 2g_ cast in the top cover.

Was just reading something on this over the weekend.

I believe the V in 2GV stands for automatic choke that uses a vacuum signal.

I think it's possible the M in 2GM stands for Manual Choke.

Mine actually says Rochester 2, and a little bit (1/4") above it it is stamped GM. It doen't actually say 2GM.... I thought this was what Darrell was observing. Sorry if I was mistaken.

M for marine? Just another possibility since I've seen 2G's on boats before

Interesting read. Well our 225's definitly have a 2G. BUT, what is the designation for a MANUAL choke? All those refered to were either "hot air" chokes (black thing on side of carb)=2GC, or coil mounted on manifold choke with a vaccum brake=2GV. These were used as the center carb on a Tri-Power and was the same on my old '64 Chevelle.
