Hey Mav, only problem I see with the mounts is that you may need to add a brace across the front, just so they don't suddenly start leaning while cornering on the street or while traversing a off-camber section of trail. A brace made of the same material either welded on or simply mounted w/two pop rivets per side would do (single rivet per side would only act as pivot points & not really stiffen the mount up).

I'm not certain but understood the previous owner purchased many things from
www.4wd.com and I think that is where he picked them up.

Need to make some seat brackets myself. How did you make the bends? Did you just throw the bar stock in a vice and heat it up? I have zero fabricating experience, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. :flag:

I did a search on this site and looked on www.4wd.com for ideas for my seat brackets. I mocked up the seat to where I liked it, made some measurements, picked up some flat bar at a local farm store and bent it up.

I purchased an inexpensive flat and round stock bender, it seemed to work ok. I do not have a torch but if you could get the sharp bends I would think that and a vice, torch, and (big) hammer would work.

Post pictures of your work. Good Luck!

I think you want to make cold bends. Heating it like that will weaken it. At least that's what they say about rebar.

I think I went way "over-kill" on mine, but when in doubt I tend to over build.

I'm thinking about adding a basket under my seat and between the frame of the seat brackets that will be probably about 2-3 inches above the floor. Probably only about a 1-2 lip. Just a place to throw and stow stuff while puttin' around. I imagine if you did the same, your frame wouldn't budge afterwards. I dunno, just thinking here but I think uboatcmdr has a legitimate concern.

I would do an "X" bracing on the back of the brackets. You could either weld it or even drill a hole and bolt it. If done in the back it would still allow you to store stuff under it. Just my thoughts. Looks good.

I have the flat bar stock for the extra supports and had been deciding if I was going to do it especially after seeing the 4WD design. After your suggestions to add the supports I think I will fab something.
