Well, I was able to buy a best top soft top for my cj with all the hardware. When I picked it up I noticed that the guys jeep it came off of had metal tubing welded onto the top of the fender well and was also notched into the body. Mine isn't set up like his so how do I get the main soft top hoop mounted? Is there another piece of hardware I need?

    Thanks in advance.....

i have a bestop supertop. no welding or anything like that involved. just the two main bows that are connected to a single piece of metal on each side. that piece of metal screws down onto the lip on the side of the tub. then the windshield door stops and the door catches. thats all there is to it.

if you need pics and someone else does not have them ill snap you a few tomorrow.

All the modern tops that I know of: the bows bolt to the top of the body. The bow notches and bow sockets are for really ancient top designs ...

Does anyone have a picture of the part the bow sits in? And what holds the top down when gonging down the road? I woulda thought there would have to be some snaps around the edge of the tub to hold it down?

    You say "all the hardware"...

Do you know if it is a Supertop? With zip out side windows, rear, etc.? If so, there should be metal tracks which cover the rails of the tub and have a channel underneath that the top tucks under with no need for snaps. Only tailgate models need snaps on it. My Renegade of course has no tailgate and uses the rail there too. There are two snaps for the top corners of the winshield, and the rest of the top at the front fits the factory channel on the windshield. Can you show us pics of what you have?
