Does anyone know the differences between the 55-75 and the 76-83 soft-tops?

Angle of the windshield frame, and width at the top of the W/S frame.

The windshield angle is different on a 76-83, making the top itself shorter. The more upright position of a 55-75 windshield requires a top that is slightly longer. They definitely are not interchangeable.

I suspect that my windshield has been changed to the newer style. The wiper motor mounts low on the inside and there are three oval openings to access the wiper mechanics. Most '74 windshields that I've seen have 4 smaller holes that are round. Is there a way to measure?

    nickmil In mothballs.

A '75 and older windshield will be the same width at the bottom and the top. If yours is narrower at the top you most likely have a '76 and newer. The inside wiper motor is also a giveaway as the '68-'75 were on the outside.

Nickmil, This is great news and very helpful. I'll have to measure tomorrow.

    Thank you!

Nickmil, Thanks again for your help. I measured and by accident, I bought the correct top.
