Yea...lol, that's why I went with the AT's. At least at first I won't be tempted to do anything too crazy. I'm really not looking forward to getting that first big scratch(or dent). It's going to be a bad day. I can tell already.

I am going to ask. In the pic with the trans and transfer case, there is silver case on the back of the transfer case, going to drivers side with small shaft running to front. I think I might know what it is. What is it?

    Yep....PTO

The case is aluminum and I think they weren't painted originally. I think the winch itself was a gold color (anyone know?)When I got it, it was layered with different paint. When I had everything sand blasted, they messed up the data plates on the drum and PTO. After I cleaned everything it didnt look that good anyway, so I found some Rustoleum "Charcoal metallic" that I think looks pretty good. I tried to go with a combination black and that color on some of the stuff.

I thought it was a PTO. What RPM does the shaft to the winch turn?

Scratch and Cry - been there - that is why my rigs are 10/10 or 15/15 (good lookin at feet/mph). I don't cry so much when I scratch them (OK, I still cry when I hear metal crunch).

Don't know how fast it turns....hasn't turned since the 80's. I do know you can vary the speed of the drum by shifting gears in the tranny. You put the transfercaese in neutral, put it in 1st for slow or 2nd or third for faster and step on the gas. You don't have to worry about bogging down the battery cuz as long as the engine runs, so will the winch

Yup - Orange Peel on paint job, lots of nicks and scratches from (insert favorite trail scratch item here)... Tractor paint that touches up with rattle can until I get the time/energy to spray it all again...
