rear drum 1948 willys

    how do you remove the rear drum off of a '48 willys jeep? :?

    Be sure to put the axle nut on before you use the puller to keep from flaring the end of the axle.

    Thanks guys, I've got an old puller I used to use in the oil field. Maybe that'll
    do it.

    dont use the kind that clamps the outside of the drum or youll bend the drum. Also when your putting it back together make sure you torque that nut to the proper spec.

    :p Yea....got it off. Will have to chase the threads on one of the lugs but other that that, everything seems ok.

    nickmil In mothballs.

    When you put the hub/drum back on DO NOT PUT THE KEY IN FIRST! Slide the hub on first then slide the key in. If you put the key in first it can slide in, ramp up on the slope of the keyway, then when you tighten the nut blow out the back of the hub. Just a tech tip from someone who learned the hard way...:beer:
