about to herculiner inside of tub

Discussion in 'Intermediate CJ-5/6/7/8' started by think369, Nov 18, 2009.

  1. there is a guy in Greenville sc that has a buisness kinda like rhino liner. his website says his stuff kicks rhino liners butt. i talked to him the other week and he said he would come here (he's mobile) 4-5 hours away and do the entire interior of the jeep for 400$. http://ducklinerllc.com/

This is the way i plan to go come spring when its warm enough. when i take the body off and do a frame up im gonna get him to do the underside too. should really cut down on road noise. (like i'd know, never even driven the jeep lol)

I did the Durabak. Rolled it on after cleaning with Xylene. It is on to stay, but I wish I had not done it now. It gets dirty and is hard to clean. It did cut the noise down, but I would not do it again.

Im guessing any urethane based paint would work it needs to be urethane for the activator to work properly....any auto paint store that can mix paint should be able to help with the right paint or tints

X2. The PO put it on the Scrambler that I recently bought and I hate it. It's already coming off in places. Looks dirty everywhere and no amount of scrubbing makes it look any cleaner. Has a course texture like 60 grit sandpaper but is surprisingly still slick when your feet are wet.

I'm living with it at the moment, but come spring I might have to see what I can do about removing it. Very skeptical of its rust-prevention qualities too.

I did the textured Durabak on the inside of my tub about 8 years ago and it's held up really well. I am pleased with it. It does trap some of the smaller dirt and can be a bit rough but for my Jeep and how I use it, it' s been perfect. I think I'll add my vote for the smooth Durabak if you're worried about the texure.

best bet for removal is a wire wheel in the grinder wear plenty of protective gear and give it to it

    Strider380 Can I have a zip tie?

I used herc inside the tub and smooth durabak under the tub. The Herc grabbed much better and is more durable then the durabak. I wouldn't put herc under my jeep tho because it holds dirt so well. I couldn't imagine trying to get the herculiner off...removing the durabak would be fairly easy.
