i plan to buy a kit like this http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Beadlocks/Beadlocks.htm and weld on my stock wheels.

because i had on my tj beadlocks with 35" tires and i loved them.
but there are no beadlocks in 6x15, yes 6x15:)

i love the look of the 33x9.5-15 tires on stock wheels and so i think to
    make beadlocks.

what you think, is this a good idea?
    has someone done this before?

    thanks

Extreme 4X4 has used them a couple of times on TV builds. If you are a good welder I say go for it.

    Couple of things about beadlocks.

Welding them on will add about 1" to the rim width.

Good welding is preferable but if not perfect, RTV or rust will seal the holes.

The inner ring should be smaller than the rim lip (ID) by about 3/8". This gives a nice "V-goove" to weld in.

Don't for get about anti-crush rings. This can be as simple as (bead width) steel plate.

I used my MM250. Get the anti coning rings. I didn't and wish I had, it sqeaze's the rim and will Bend the rings. I got mine from Greatlakes offroad, great product bad lead time. I took 3 weeks and a few complants on pirate to finally get him to ship.

Let me know how it goes,, I have been considering a set of the Rockstomper DIY beadlocks eventually. I will need to get a set of 8" wheels, as I wnderstand the kit adds 1" of width, and Im already running 10" wide wheels. Looks good, I also liked the write-up and advice using the BB's to help balance the wheel/tire.

Gerald , those look great , how much did they really add to the width of the rim, I'm also running 15"x10" and think it might pop it out too much going this way.

oh by the way , what is all that white stuff on everything .

Gerald - are the ones you used the Bart or the Aero that come up in the link? My kid thinks he may want to try them, and I get to try out the TIG on his stuff ;)

So how do the bart inner rings assemble? Do they weld in along the outer or inner edge?
How much width did they add overall to the wheel?

I used these and the flame tips are a little rough on the skin.
