    Folks,

You all have been very helpful with my new toy Oh Poop. :) I have found most of the items I'm looking for except side steps. I have found plenty for 1976 or newer, but nothing for a 1974. Any suggestions? :? Also, looking for soft top mounting hardware.

    Thanks

You should be able to find a set of factory-style side steps. I've seen them at the specialty supplier's web sites (Walcks? Krage?). You could also look for some OEM ones ... they are not very popular except with the restoration guys. They get bent up very easily, and most owners took them off and got rid of them. We had a big pile of them at the Jeep dealer in the junkyard behind the shop. Near zero demand for them back then...

This is what the factory steps look like:

Thanks for the info. I found something online @JC Whit that should work. The previous owner install 9 leaf springs front and aft and heavier shocks. The steps will help me get my hind-end past that hump to get in. :)
Thanks for your help and the others too!. Just got the beast back and other than the emergency brake repair, the Jeep is sound. Now it's up to a little TLC. Again Thanks

Don't get 'em at JC Whitney, get 'em at walcks4WD.com or another Jeep parts place. Help support the vendors that support us, not the big-box crap peddlers.

I'm looking for OE steps for a 76-83 CJ5. If you happen to know where a nice set can be found please post a link or contact info.

    Thx,
