    This is all good info guys. I have to replace my cowl seal as well. It was leaking when I first bought it in Sept. The PO warned me about getting it changed but I ran out of time and now out of good weather.

    I bet the handle on the lath has too much curve in it and it won't cam over and lock . bent the handle ....little bit at a time ..straight .

    Yes They are adjustable but I had a pair that pop off on a bumpy road . after a long time . I found that handle bent too much,a few hits with hammer. They have not pop in ten years. if they bent too much ,they can not cam over and lock.
