I'm installing a parking brake on my 1971 cj5 and I have the lever that installs onto the backing plate. I'm confused as to how the lever attaches to the rear of the transfer case. There is a hole right where a bolt should go, but there are no threads. I've looked on the forum and can't find an answer. In my haynes manuel it says its a "Brake Operating Lever Stud" ... I would have no idea where to find that? I can't just use a bolt? Any help is appreciated ...!

There should be a stud coming out of the bottom of the case

It's a stud. You need the stud with a castle nut(cottered) to get the proper thickness to allow the brake lever to rotate. I can go out and measure length on the t-case on the bench tonite if you need me to?

Yeah ... It's the stud that I don't have ... Any idea where I can buy that? A generic one? Local hardware store?

you would have better luck finding a stud that you need at a auto parts store.Dorman has a large selection.most stores have Dorman products.

if memory serves me well, I think it was a sort of trapped bolt. I can tell you for sure that mine wobbles around and spins, just a little, left to right, but will not turn freely.
