1974 Shop Manual in PDF

This may not be the right forum.

I have finally finished copying my entire 74 Shop Manual into PDF...chapter by chapter. The glue in the manual was failing and pages were falling out so I did this to permanently archive it.

I would like to find a way to make this freely available to fellow Jeep owners, however, I don't have a hosting site or anything.

If you guys can recommend someone that is willing to host it, I'll be glad to forward the files. Here's the specs:

    46 total PDF files
    56.5MB total size
    Largest file is 5.3MB
    Smallest is 4K

It is copied cover to cover, each file being a chapter or part of a chapter. Please do not send me a bunch of emails/PM's asking for copies...I just can't start emailing it to everyone.

To the extent possible, I also want to try and prevent someone from capitalizing on these copies and seeing them show up on ebay for sale. That is not the intent.

I take it that it would be hard for ECJ5 to host because of copy right?

Maybe. Although I find it really hard to believe that all those other places that have copies available for sale also have a release to do so...from...I guess it would be Fiat now.

Hope you can find a place to host it. It seems there is a huge number of 74's here in the Intermediate forum. I haven't seen the year by year build figures, but I'm wondering if 74 was a particularly large run or if it's just a coincidence.

If you do end up trying to send it to anyone it will be too large to email, but there are several websites that offer free file transfer. I've used "transfer large files dot com" and had good results. Still not the result you want, but a relatively easy way to transfer it to someone.

Looks like "toobig" has a 5 file limitation without membership, I'd have to consolidate all the files into one big PDF.

I do have a couple of really good leads/offers to host.

If you don't have the full version of Acrobat there's a nice little open source freeware application that lets you split and merge PDF's. It's called PDF Split and Merge (appropriately enough) and it's a quick little free download. http://www.pdfsam.org/?page_id=32

I know Wordpress has a 3gig limit for uploads. I have plenty of room on my Wordpress page and would love to give it a home there... even if it is temporary. PM inbound.

And they do allow PDF... I just checked.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I now have 3 offers to host it. Updates with further information will be coming sometime this weekend.

If those guys hosting it want to post up links once its done, please do. It'll save time that way.
