    Is there a 4spd. tranny that is a "bolt-in" replacement for the t150 3spd? I'm looking for a lower 1st gear.

What's your definition of "bolt-in"? I think most any change you do will result in some modification...either to the driveshafts, location of transmission mount, or something else. Assuming you are mounting to an AMC engine...if not, then you'll have bellhousing, adapters, etc.

    I would suggest a T18a. Has a 6.3:1 first gear.

x2 on the t18. I will be putting one behind a 401. It's the most bolt in tranny to get a granny first. The bellhousing will work but you more than likely will have to modify for one bolt hole. Same clutch IIRC. FInd one out of a CJ and it's good. A litle better option, but one you will have to rebuild first, is one from a Ford. Parts Mike (www.partsmike.com) is a good place to start. Also go to Novack adapters to see what they say.

Oh, and search. Been talked about many times before.

I'm running a NP435 behind a AMC 360 and I think I used a T5 bell housing. just had to drill and tap the mounting holes. No mater what you use you'll have to get the $500. adaptor for a 18 or 20 transfer case.

Yes. The closest to a 'bolt in' upgrade is from a '77-79 CJ with a T-18. Theses vehicles are highly sought after and not plentiful.

However, with this donor, you could really 'bolt in' the transmission and associated parts.

Actually a t-18 from a late 70's J series truck will have the dana 20 adapter already on it. You will have to do a short shaft conversion and a bell housing modification to get it to fit. Mine came out of a '78 J-series.

i believe someone on here machined down the input shaft vs buying a short shaft kit. Hopefully he can share the details

Another option is the T-18 from a '71-79 258 cid inline 6 J-truck or Wagoneer/Cherokee. This T-18 will have a slightly longer input shaft than the Ford input HudsonHawk refers to, and will use the Jeep T-15/T-14 to AMC bell. But, it will bolt up to both the Dana 20 and the AMC engines.

I am putting a t 18 in my cj. I am useing a scout t 18 and ford t 18. From the scout, the output shaft and adapter to the dana 20 with all of the other parts from the ford t 18.
You could also use a scout 6 cylinder t 18 if you can find one, they used jeep 258 and 232 engines.
You will aslso have some driveshaft issues, my t 18 is about 3 inches longer than a t 150.
