The rollbar i bought for my jeep has a big flat plate that sits on the fender wells. How far forward does it need to be mounted? There is a 1" tube hole on each side that keeps the bottom plate from moving all the way up to the front of the fender.Do i just mount it there or do i need to notch it to move all the way forrward. The reasom im asking is because i do plan on putting a full softttop on it and i dont want it to get in the way.I did a search also with no help. THanks

Also what is that tube hole used for?

    Here are a few pictures.

Slide it up against the bow pocket and bolt it down. You should have had to squeeze it to go between the frame rails.

The holes are for the original tops. Part of the frame was
    slide into the hole.

That is a great looking jeep. I just put the same rollbar into my '66 and welded tabs for shoulder belts on the vertical parts facing aft.
Sounds like you already bolted it in. I put mine 1/2" back from the tubes so that it was easier to bolt around the rear fenderwell brace on the drivers side. Could have welded up the hole and redrilled but sliding it back worked ok.
The softtop fits fine. The rollbar is just below the softtop and barely touches it. The only problem may be folding the top bows back if I want to put the top down because the bows are tight against the rollbar.

What years were those rollbars with the back braces moved towards the middle available from Jeep?
