    I am very intriqued with the whole overdrive issue and would like to hear from you on the actual or percieved usefullness of your overdrive unit. What make? what increase in mileage? noise reduction......

    do a search on overdrives....you'll be able to sift through a lot of info
    I have a Warn unit, allows me to split gears, run 4.27's but still do 70mph at 2350rpm, etc etc.......noise comes from the D18 intermediate shaft, not affected by OD

    I have an original Warn OD on my 59 with the f134 and 5.38 gears.I get about 19mpg average when using it for everyday driving. I couldn't imagine driving my Jeep without it. It sounds like it's really winding out in third gear direct drive at 45mph. I would say that it's well worth it.

    Have a look at the Saturn overdrive unit, VERY well made and an easy install, I don't have "performance" numbers yet, but will post when I do....:)

    I have the warn overdrive behinde my v-6 with 5:38's, and 32" tires. I run 65mph at 2400 RPM's in overdrive, and 2750 RPM in direct. average about 18.5 miles per gallon.

    i have the warn od,v6,373 gears and love it.better gas mileage and a better range of gears!
