The factory parking brake doesn't hang below the skid plate or cross member anyway..

Line lock is not redundant in case of hydraulic failure.

Worse, I personally know a case (involving an idling fire truck) where the brakeline heated and the expanding fluid blew it out, releasing the truck on a downhill grade. Almost crushed the pump operator.

I wouldn't want to trust a line lock if I was not in the driver's seat.

And, like Patrick said, about the skid plate.

The later Forward Controls, after 58, have the parking brake on the axle and a nice under the dash handle that supplied plenty of leverage.

I removed the drum and run a disc parking brake in place of it.

I'd be interested in seeing yours as well. My dad used a Toyota kit from All Pro too.

I'm saying the line lock works fine if you're there to supervise it. If you're going to walk away turn the motor off and put it in gear. And block a tire if it's steep.

Very handy to hop out and lock in the hubs or zip up the back or plug in the winch control. Just not a long term thing.

Did that disc parking brake bolt right up or were there mods required? Model/Part number would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Is there an advantage in using a front yoke on the rear instead of the rear 4 bolt that came w/drum parking brake? Strength, driveline lenght? The dana 20 uses the same yoke front and rear. The line lock I have on my front disk brakes works very well and will hold for several days sitting parked in the garage Thanks Brian

IIRC I had to open the hole in the center a little and drill new holes to get it to line up with the original yoke.
I used stuff from All Pro Off Road (Toyota) found here: http://www.allprooffroad.com/pickupbrakeupgrades/33
