I have been looking into new lift springs for a while. Then i had an idea (bad idea???)

I would remove all but the main and secondary leaf from the spring pack.
and would install a air spring between the axle and frame like this. I realize i will HAVE to run a traction bar. i think to would be nice to adjust the ride hight. lower for the highway and higher for around town and offroad. Plus compensate for different loads.
    Any comments

Not crackpipe, it would work just fine. The leaf spring is used to locate the axle and prevent lateral movement, just like the bars of a 4-link would. The downside is your articulation would be limited to the movement of the leaf and shackle, but I would think you would still be able to get more flex out of it than a stock setup.

Even with tractionbars, there is too much axlewrap which ends up in wheelhopping. By the time you mess around with tightening everything up with ladders and tractionbars or whatever, you are better off just adding air to the originals or setting up a 4-link.

Ask me how I know all this!!!!!!!!
