the stock passenger seat i have doesnt want to stay in the hook shaped brackets.
as soon as someone sits in it and moves at all.
the seat pops out and it is just sitting on the toolbox.
i am almost ready to weld those hooks shut so it cant do that anymore.

it is unsafe and i have a gal that wants me to take her on a pick a nick in my willys.
and i wont take her until this seat wants to stay in the vehicle.
    suggestions?

Sounds like the bracket is bent.

Or both the pivots and slots are worn out.

You should have to tilt the seat forward to maybe 45° before you can lift it out. Could be bent or worn brackets, or maybe the pins are worn or have been modified such that they don't work?

Can you post a pic of the hinge?

An easy fix is to knock of the studs from the frame and drill a 1/2" hole in the frame where the studs were. Then insert bolts through the frame into the hinge. You have to use a locknut so that it holds but will still pivot.

Pull the seat belt down tight and it won't come out any more. The passenger was wearing their belt weren't they.

    It is the pivot pins.
i swapped different hooks onto the floor and they still popped out.
maybe one of my welder friends can build them up a bit?

I think I have an old seat that I could pull the bottom off and send you if you like.

Hey Bill, I noticed that your passenger seat frame has had an extension welded onto that rear leg. Does that seat lean forward a little more than the driver's seat? It might be just enough to make the flats line up with the bracket slots so the seat can come out.

Still does it? Bummer. I suppose the flats on the seat pivot pins could be built up a little bit with welding.

yup sounds liek you need to build them up a bit. Some of the pivot brackets have a small hole for a pin to hold the seat from coming out. Maby you can drill a hole for yours and just pin it
