Guys, I'm thinking about going and looking at what I was told was a 74 Navy military Jeep. It is susposed to have everything but the motor. He said it had almost no rust. It is painted the grey the Navy paints everything.

What should I look for? I believe it should have military wraped springs, front shackle reversal and what else?

He said it was never titled. In Florida that is a bad thing. WIthout a title, they are almost worthless for anything but parts.

But I have a 74 that has a title that really needs a tub and a frame.....

    Thanks for the suggestions..........

Any friends in Georgia? Easier to register out of state with no title. They could do it and then on paper you can buy it back. Providing it has never been stolen. Here in Mi I bought a truck in PA. Got it home went to DMV with bill of sale and title. They didn't even look at the title.
Down there rust should be minimal. Look for frame cracks, cracked leaf springs. Most other things but frame can be repaired.

If it's really a 1974 it will probably be either be a stock CJ that the military used as as basic transport or a M151 Mutt. There is a chance it could be an M606 which would be a slightly militarized version of a CJ.

Last night after I posted the question I found some info on another website and figured it, more than likely, is a civvy CJ painted with Navy paint. In NE florida we were the home of about 20 military instillations.

But at least he tells me it's fairly rust free...............
