I've not been particularly happy with the gas pedal since I bought the Jeep. It just hangs on the end of the linkage, and the hinge is cast iron, so it's really heavy. On washboard roads it bounces up and down, working the throttle by itself. It's also uncomfortable, and my ankle gets tired after several hours on the trail or highway.

I got this "hotrod" or whatever universal unit, but it was too high off the floor, and the angle would have been all wrong. It was meant to mount to a horizontal surface. So I removed it from it's base/ hinge, and cut about 1 1/2" off the top, and the heel cup from the bottom. I made a hinge piece from some 1 1/4" channel.
I used a brass "T" and cut two ends off, drilled it to fit the factory linkage, and drilled and tapped for a set screw, in the original spot. Then I drilled and tapped it and installed two ball bearing rollers (think sliding glass door) to ride on the back of the gas pedal. Drilled and tapped a hole at the bottom of the pedal for a stop screw, and put a spring on the back to keep it against the rollers so it wouldn't rattle when I'm off the throttle. It's very comfortable, doesn't rattle, and doesn't bounce around. It operates very smoothly.
I'm very happy with it. It took a lot of fitting and adjustment to get it just right..

Oh, and I drilled one hole in the floorboard, and that's the only thing I altered. ;)

where did you get the bearing? I have a sticking stock pedal assembly, doing the sticky thing. I don't know if the arm is original (doubt it) but wheel on end is worn off that pedal rides on rod. I was going to do a roller bearing like thing as well.

I had them in a drawer.;)
You can get them at your local hardware store. These were meant for a sliding screen door I believe.

edit> They are supposed to be for sliding shower doors. I went to the store where I had purchased them to get some slightly different ones, but they are for a shower door.
