Jeep Lean revisted, again

There have been several posts and replies about the infamous "Jeep lean". I even saw were Jeep had produced shim kits to rectify this.

I wanted to revisit this to share an observation I made. My jeep suffered from the lean, even after several solutions were attempted. Until I installed an original tire carrier with original size tire.

Now there is no lean! Could it be they engineered the lean to compensate for the outboard load of a spare tire? I don't know but it sure cured my lean.

Many thanks for getting the forum back up!

Interesting observation! You could be onto something there.

    But, what about CJ7's?

Glad to have seen this post. I have the lean and was already planning on putting on my spare carrier and tire sometime in the next few weeks. I'll post back after it has been on for awhile to see if it helped even out everything.

My 67 has the lean from time to time. Had to pick up a 100lb bag of sand not too long ago. Thought about the lean as I was putting the sand in the back. Put it in the right rear and yep, no lean. One of the things I've tried in the past is swapping the springs from driver to passenger but it didn't make much of a difference...
