Need help clarifying what these two tubes are on the back of my CJ5 tub.

I picked up a complete body for my 1964 CJ5 and as I was looking at it after I got it home. There are these 2 tubes on the back corner of the tub that I have no idea what they are for. the whole body is new never installed, just been sitting around in a garage for a while. They look to have been welded and primed when everything else was.

I looked through all the pictures I have of some CJ5's and googled for more, but haven't found a CJ5 with one yet. I found DJ-3A Surrey Gala top that have them. Is that what they are for, a surry top? Was hoping that someone here would know what they are for?

I found this last one which shows the bows but it still a CJ3. What did I get?

Pict number 4 tells it all. It's for the old sytle top bows. I think a holdover from it's military herritage.

Just FYI - you're in the wrong forum for a '64. The intermediate Jeeps started in 1972.

Yep - top bow pockets. The rear bow pockets went away sometime in the 60s, and the midship bow pockets were deleted in 1976 (as was the notch for the convertible bows).

My 65 CJ6 has the same thing, I couldn't figure out what they were for at first either since there's not many 6's around.

Only a moderator can move a post to a different forum. Once you post, you're stuck there without outside help.

Now I know what those are for. I could be wrong, but if his jeep is a 64, this would be the correct forum wouldn't it? 64 is not intermediate.

Our '64 had them till I ground the welds and removed them so I could install diamond plate corners. A prior owner had slid into a fence and ripped the side mount off. Diamond plate covered up that injury.
