No spacers. Sounds like you have the wrong pressure plate or disc.
Is the throwout fork/ bearing moving far enough? Is your pedal just really hard?
    Details.....

    Hey Nate -

Glad to see you made it here.

(Nate bought the 225 out of Dutch a couple of years ago and is putting it into a 3B).

the pedal does move hard. I put a hydralic master/slave out of a 94 wrangler in it to push the fork and I can only move the fork about or less than an inch.

side note: As far a drivetrain goes the only thing stock is the tranny and t-case.

An inch should be pretty close to enough..... I'd bet your problem is not with the pressure plate...

hey- check to make sure that the clutch disc is not on backwards & the disc hub sitting on the flywheel bolts. this will cause the exact problem you describe. ask me how i know.

the disc is not in backwards. I just pulled that tranny on sat to check that. Do you have anyothedr ideas to try??? The pedals are the dash and firewall mount kind not the floor kind.

I added a washer to each bolt and that worked. It made it the right clamping pressure but not so it dis-engaged the pressure plate all the way.

Can you show a picture? Ive never known the pressure plate needing spacers (shims).
I believe that there are two differant length forks, you may need to change fork lengths with the hydraulic setup versus the mechanical lincage.

If you had to add washers between the pressure plate and flywheel to get it to work, there's something wrong...

when i convert the t90 to t18a i had the same problem. the solution was to cut about an inch from trannys input shaft where spins on the pilot bushing.
    just an opinion

When I changed mine to a hydraulic set up I used a different fork. It was a stock GM item I got from Novak. IIRC it was slightly longer. You also have to make sure your pivot ball is good and not worn.

Nate,Even though you got it to work there is something wrong. We are not ridiculing you with our comments, actually just the opposite. We are concerned that because there is likely something not quite right it may cause other damage or failure.By the way, welcome from Marshall Mi.Oz

I put 1 grade 8 washer on each bolt between the pressure plate and the flywheel. I also put a hydraulic master/slave setup of a wrangler. It works but pushes really hard. It disengages and works fine. I've been driving it for about 1000 miles and the only problem I have is that in 4 wheel high it slips and doesn't hook up but in low range it works great (2 wheel it is just starting to slip a little). My tranny is going now because it was never really that good.
