i dont know what it should sound like.
it didnt come across on the camera perfectly but it gives you a good idea.

 

i was concerned that maybe it was makin a funny noise.

Oh, yes you have a nice sounding F head!

Some of them have a lot more valve noise than yours, you should be real pleased with this.

thats good news!
i honestly dont know what it should sound like.
but when i started it for the 1st time .
it made a heckuva racket.
the valves were way off.
the # 4 valve was at 0.63

#2 was at 0.37 or something....

funny thing about this one.
it doesnt leak any fluids period.......

it leaks now....

 

Sounds like your on your way to being a certified hurricane mechanic. Idle a tad high, how noisey is it at a lower idle? It's when the noise doesn't go away around 1500 rpms that you have a problem. Take the fan belt off temporarily to eliminate fan noises.
