Hi! i was searching to find a double cardan cv all around the internet.
All the information i could find ended up at tom woods driveshafts and high angle driveline.
They have custom made driveshafts but you get them complete.
I have a friend here in Greece who can do the job end weld it but i can't find somewhere to buy just the cv.
    I have a D18 with D44 on my m38a1.
Is there a cv that i can make it work or i have to change the yoke of D18.

Do you think you need a double cardan driveline? My driveline is 16" long with a 2 1/2"- 3" lift and I don't have one. Seems to work fine.

Fivos- I assume you are willing to have it shipped?? Check out NAPA. They carry most everything, although I do not know for sure if they have a CV. They should be able to make a suggestion if they do not. Could you not order a CV from one of the shops you mentioned, or are they just too expensive? I will also check another forum and see if I can come up with a CV.

Just curious if you tried shimming your rearend and adjusting transfer case angles. 2 1/2" doesn't sound like a lot on a M38A1 since the output on the D18 transfer case sits low. On the other hand, if you need a CV shaft, there is a fellow on Ebay that builds shafts to your specs. People have had good things to say about him.

A common junkyard source here in the USA is a front driveshaft from a Wagoneer. No personal experience with them though. Certainly it will be too long for your application, but it should be compatible with your axle, and I'd guess with your transfer case too.

I would give Tom Wood a call, he could probably just send you the CV. Or like others said you can shorten the front CV shaft from an XJ,TJ etc. as long as you have the proper (1310 in this case) yoke on the back of your T-case.

But before all this you might be able to shim correctly.

I don't know what kind of resources you have in Greece, or about parts availability, but I was recently told that this can be done using the front DS from a Ford Explorer too.

Hello from Barcelona, nice to meet an other european!

If you take your driveshaft to a workshop where repair axleshaft and driveshafts they can adapt a double cardan and balance it. Over here in Spain is easy find these workshops and it's a common upgrade; price is about 300 euros

 WOW that's expensive!!!! I just had a drive line shop fix my front (non-cv type) driveshaft. They put a new tube and a new yoke, with balancing for $175 (American).

I wish I had not just thrown aout a perfectly goot CV joint! I would ahve shipped it to you, sorry. But most auto parts stores should be able to get one of these joints.

You can also used a front Driveshaft from a XJ cherokee. that shaft will have the cv joint you are looking for, but you will have to shorten it.
NAPA sells these assemblies new ... http://catalog2.genpt.com/catviewer...&N=599001+101994+50038+27857+2038004&Ne=25000

I do, however have a 10 spline CV yoke that will fit a d18 or d 20 transfercase. You will need one of these to attach a CV Shaft to your transfer case. I doubt it would be cheaper for me to ship it to you, but if you want, I will send it for the cost of shipping only.

Another good junkyard double cardon is off Ford Broncos. Check the transfer case end of the front driveshaft. Should be able to get one for about $20.00.

    Thanks for the input.
As eveybody understant parts from us and anything custom made is expensive.
Like Xavi_4Wheeler said 300 euros and it is even more expensive here in Greece.
So thats why i'm looking from us, it's still cheaper with shipping and taxes.
Even a donnor vehicle from junkyard is hard to find. But is possible after a lot of search.
The reason i'm looking for double cv is because i'm lifitng my m38 with custom hangers to fit yj springs
and i'll get about 2.5 in from the hangers and the rest from the springs(5pack front and 6pack rear)
The tranny is T18 so the driveshaft is already shortent with pinto engine.
The yokes are stock for tcase an axle.
