I have a 35' 220V Extension cord I built for my Miller 180 - works well and I keep it looped on the cart. I always use it in the circut so I am used to the slight drop in amps and can always set it right.

Got to make sure to use the right wire, but it works great.

I made a 40' 220 cord so I can reach out in front of the garage but that doesn't do me any good when I want to weld at the other end of the house or elsewhere. I haven't really looked into 120 v. welders yet but I'd think a 15-20-amp circuit would work, even with a 100' extension cord.

I made a 100' extension that in on my cart as well. That will easily reach my street if I have to repair my trailer.

i think i have decided on the HH 140...

the price is good and it seems to be able to do everything i need it to ... sheet metal for the tub and the heavier stuff for the frame (fish plates etc)...

thanks so very much for all of your input!

If you haven't bought it yet, you may want to check out.....A new Miller 211. It is compact, the size of the smaller units, but can weld heavier material like some of the bigger units. It just has less of a duty cycle than the bigger units.
It also can run on 110 or 220.
    24 gauge to 3/8.
    spool gun ready.
About $985 for the basic unit.

I haven't had a chance to make an extention for my welder yet so I'm stuck within 20' of the outlet for now. I do have 2 outlets to select from though, so I can cover anywhere in the garage.

For the real far away stuff I have a Ready Welder.

Well, i fianlly scored a welder...

got a Lincoln 3200 HD for 3 bills... thought it was a killer deal...

its got a set up to hold a bottle and such, so i ordered one today from AirGas... should be here on friday (yay me!)

all i need now is some scrap material to practice on...

anyone have any experience with this particular machine? the little bit i have used it so far (built a security gate extension) it seems like it totally rocks!

any problems or concerns from the rest of you fine peoples?

    thanks!

I have a Lincoln 140 and I really like it. Course I can't weld worth monkey poo but it's way better than my 842 year old Linde stick.
