I have seen different anwsers to this question. Do you have to upgrade form 15 in to 16 in wheels in order for the 11 in upgrade to work. I plan on doing the upgrade once I find 2 more backing plates. In the meantime I need tires and would prefer to not have to purchase new wheels if its not needed.

    Thank You

Since there are so many variations, maybe you can pick up an 11" unfinned drum to put on over your existing brakes for a test fit. Just dont forget to switch back before you drive awayR)

I'm in the same predicament. I should have bought an 11" drum to testfit the 15" wheel before i bought new tires. But since I've already bought the tires, i'm hoping that the wheels are from a later model CJ so they'll fit over the 11 inchers. We'll see!

    Good luck with it, Gman

From my experience the drums from a 70's ish F100 will bolt up to the old 44's, 25's & 27's with no clearance problem. They ran 15" wheels stock.

Careful with the Ford wheels the center hole may be to small to fit over the hub on a 25/27.

I've had no issue with the after market 15" wheels sold by most vendors. The only issue might be with the finned Drums as I have never had a set of those.

Thanks for the great replies. I am going to test out some newer 15 inch wheels that a familily member has on Monday. Hopefully they will work since they are extras and will be free. :)

    Thanks again

Another question on the upgrade. Do you need to switch the master brake cylinder when upgrading to the 11 inch drums. I am putting 11in on the rear and replacing the 10 in on the front.

The weather is breaking here and I am close to finishing and getting to drive it. :)

    Thanks for the help!
